I have always thought of Jack Nicholson as an over rated actor but after seeing this movie my opinion has changed quite a bit. This movie really shows off his abilities as an actor and now I see why he gets the credit that he gets as an actor. This is also a oscar winner for best picture in 1975. So check it out its worth watching if you have spare time.
This movie is from 1930 and its basically about young german soldiers and the HELL they went through during the war. I thought it was a little hard to follow at first due to the fact that there wasn’t really a character intro on each character so I didn’t really know any names. Also for it being such an old movie and the video quality it almost looked like a silent film in the way they were moving but as a person who can appreciate classic cinema I looked past all that and sat through the movie. Overall it shows the horrible things that war can do to the troops and cause them to go crazy. For a war movie back then I’m sure it was eye opening to the horror they lived through and it also shows how far Hollywood has come in making these type of films.

This was a great movie that I really liked and it tells a really great story. I had to watch this especially with all the Oscar’s it had won and I had heard about this movie a while ago and every year it seems like an Indie movie kinda takes over the Oscars or gets a little more media spotlight from the nominations. However I wonder how an Indie film is even nominated since its not shown in wide release to make millions of dollars. It makes me wonder if the academy has to watch every single movie made from the whole year which sounds like a job I would love to do.
